“I value fairness, integrity, and helping create an environment where people can perform at their best.”
In her circles, Angela Warren is known for her service to others. She is a volunteer with Las Amigas Social & Civic Club, Top Ladies of Distinction Inc., and the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc., Beta Rho Chapter. “Whether it’s helping with programs, events, or outreach, I enjoy contributing to work that positively impacts students and families,” she said. “I like being present and supporting the efforts of others in the community.”
At her church, Oak Street Baptist, Angela serves as the audiovisual technician, managing the technical aspects of weekly worship services and special events, including visuals such as slides, videos, and live-stream integration. “Using my abilities to support something bigger than myself has been incredibly rewarding,” she said. “I enjoy helping to bring ideas to life in ways that connect with people. For me, it’s about making a difference however I can, whether it’s through design, volunteering, or simply showing up and finding fulfillment in being part of something larger than myself.”
Angela’s life philosophy comes from her mother, 2024 Tribute to Women honoree Mary Warren. “She has always shown me the value of hard work, kindness, and perseverance, leading by example in everything she does,” Angela said. “Her guidance and example continue to motivate me to be my best self every day.”
Angela earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology at Texas A&M–Texarkana and then a master’s in management from the University of Phoenix. Since 2022, she has worked at Texarkana College as a testing proctor. In that role, she is responsible for maintaining a secure, fair, and organized testing environment.

“My journey into this role started with an interest in structured, responsible work, where attention to detail really matters,” she said. “Over time, I gained experience in proctoring and grew into a leadership position by showing reliability, staying calm under pressure, and being someone others can depend on. Each step helped me become more confident in managing situations and supporting both staff and test-takers.”
Now one of the college’s lead proctors, Angela takes pride in the skills she has developed on the job.
“One of my most meaningful professional achievements has been growing into my role as a lead proctor and confidently managing high-pressure situations,” she said. “During one major exam session, we were unexpectedly short-staffed, and I had to step up quickly, coordinating logistics, supporting my fellow proctors, and ensuring every student had what they needed. In the end, everything ran smoothly, and we maintained a calm, fair testing environment. That experience made me especially proud because it showed me how much I’ve grown in my role, not just in terms of responsibility, but also in confidence and leadership. Knowing that I could be relied on to handle that kind of pressure while still upholding standards of fairness and organization meant a great deal to me.”
Angela credited two educators as playing major roles in her life path. “My first-grade teacher, Mrs. Harris, taught me how powerful it can be to lift others up with kindness and patience,” she said. “Years later, my college sociology instructor, Mr. Larry Andrews, challenged me to think more deeply about the world around me. His passion sparked a curiosity in me that went far beyond the classroom. Together, their guidance has played a major role in shaping how I understand the world and how I choose to move through it.”
Following in her teachers’ footsteps, Angela treats students and colleagues with magnanimity and care, with the ultimate goal of contributing to a fairer, more equitable world.
“I do what I do because I value fairness, integrity, and helping create an environment where people can perform at their best,” she said. “Being part of a process that ensures equal opportunity for everyone is important to me, and I take pride in being someone others trust to uphold those standards.”

How Dr. Lori George Sees Angela:
“It takes an incredibly selfless person to take the time to pour into the success of others. In a time when independence is highlighted as a marker of success, Ms. Angela Warren understands the importance of the village it takes in order to help others reach their goals. As a lead proctor of the testing center at Texarkana College, Angela helps to ensure integrity, support, and kindness as students strive to reach their educational endeavors. She does this with a humble spirit, a keen attention to detail, and always with a smile. She even takes her servant’s heart to work as an usher in her local church and has an excellent eye for audiovisual design. If there is an event in town that includes uplifting the community or highlighting the works of others, you can bet that Angela will be there to support. It has been an honor of mine to know her and call her a friend for many years. One of the many things I admire about her is her cheerful spirit. She has a heart of gold and is incredibly deserving to be recognized for who she is and is still becoming.”
