/A&M Texarkana Earns Top 30 Public University Ranking as Enrollment and Student Success Continue to Rise
Texas A&M University Texarkana has been recognized among the nation’s top public institutions in U.S. News & World Report’s 2027 Best Colleges rankings, placing among the top 30 public schools in its category. The national recognition comes as A&M Texarkana continues to experience significant growth in enrollment while reporting improvements in student retention, graduation rates, and student debt.
The Fall 2026 semester marked the University’s ninth consecutive term of record enrollment. Over the past three years, total enrollment has increased by approximately 70%.
Undergraduate retention reached 76.5% for the Fall 2025 cohort, the University’s highest rate in a decade, while retention rates for both first-time college students and transfer students reached nine-year highs as well.
The University continues to expand access to higher education through flexible learning options designed to serve traditional students as well as transfer students, working adults, and those returning to complete a degree. Those options include a growing number of programs offered 100% online.
During the 2025-2026 academic year, 54% of A&M Texarkana students graduatedwith no debt whatsoever, while 69% graduated with less than $10,000 of debt, comparing very favorably to peer institutions in the state, region, and nation. The percentage of graduates completing their degrees without debt has increased over the past five years, while average loan debt among borrowers has declined.
A&M Texarkana provides scholarship opportunities for first-time, transfer, adult learner, graduate, online, and international students. Employees of more than 200 partner organizations — including regional industries, school districts, businesses, and nonprofit organizations — are eligible for tuition discounts as well. More than 86% of A&M Texarkana students receive financial aid, and the University’s tuition rate has remained unchanged for five consecutive years.
The University’s student-success efforts extend well beyond graduation. Approximately 70% of A&M Texarkana alumni are employed in their field of study, and median earnings among graduates are 32% higher than the regional average.
“While we are proud of our remarkable, sustained enrollment growth, without successful student outcomes, those numbers are meaningless,” said A&M Texarkana President Dr. Ross Alexander. “The rise in retention and graduationrates is a testament to the high-quality students we are now attracting and enrolling. The fact that so many are graduating without student debt and are employed in high-paying jobs in their chosen field speaks volumes about the value of an A&M Texarkana degree.”
